Large late 19th.c. Snowdonia landscape painting in oil on canvas c.1890. Measuring 50" x 30", the scene is the river Lledr above Betws y Coed here in North Wales. Two figures, one with a fishing rod, stand in front of a traditional white cottage bedside the river with the rugged hills around Capel Curig filling the horizon. Signed J.Ellis in the lower left corner and annotated on the rear. Some small holes in the canvas and areas of damage to the surface of the painting. Presented unframed on the original stretcher.
