A beautiful boudoir clock of Boulle work in the style of Louis XV. Ornate Brass is delicately inlaid into the red shell veneer and the case is mounted with finely modelled ormolu. The red shell veneer has mellowed to a lovely antique red-brown with plenty of character. Mounts are typical of the style with stylised acanthus leaves, 'c' scrolls and shells.

The front of the clock is glazed to allow the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case. It is the original ormolu sunburst pendulum featuring the sun god Mithras.

The dial is enamel on copper and has the retailers signature "Grottendieck à Brussels" which is also repeated on the movement backplate along with the clockmakers mark "Samuel Marti" It is has a separate Arabic minute ring and is convex and lightly sculptured. It is complete with the original blued steel hands.

The French movement is by the famous maker Samuel Marti and is of the highest quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a coiled gong. Click the video clip below to see the clock running and striking!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish. Boulle work is excellent, there are only a couple of very minor losses to the shell or brass. The dial is also excellent with no damage. The glass has a couple of small nibbles to the edge and a light scratch. Ormolu is excellent, bright and clean and no losses.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required. A beautiful clock to add to your collection.
