A beautiful Louis XVI style clock set 'Garniture de Cheminee'. It is very well modelled in brass in the Louis XVI style. The case is architecturally shaped, profusely decorated with floral swags. The front of the case is finely fretted to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed, swinging within the case. Candelabra are conforming in style with bold 4 branch candelabra above urns with flaming handles and are complete with snuffers.

The large and superb dial is brass, mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouches and an egg and dart bezel. The back door is glazed with frosted glass.

The French movement is of excellent quality and is the slightly larger plate version of the 'Pendule de Paris' movement and is fitted with rack striking. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been stripped, inspected, fully cleaned, serviced and function tested by our clockmaker. We have also replaced the pendulum. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. See the video clip below to see this actual clock working!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish. There is some wear, tarnish and discolouration. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted and some of the sconce inserts have some cracking. The dial is also in excellent condition, just some slight wear to the cartouche lettering in places and some tiny chips around the winding holes. The set displays beautifully as you can see below.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
