W.R. Harvey & Co. (Antiques) Ltd has dated this piece to the 18th Century.

Note: By each of the local Vicar and two Churchwardens having different keys, this meant that all three had to be present whenever the box was opened. This would have held valuable church items, documents and of course money.
The construction and use of solid Oak make this too heavy to run off with as well.
