Description

Fabulous pair of Tudric pewter candle sticks by the great Arts & Crafts designer Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co. c.1905. Typical of Knox’s work the design marries ancient Celtic and English forms with the Art Nouveau to create the Liberty style. Standing just over 5" tall, removable candle holders on a stem moulded with with a woven pattern of Celtic influence on a 4¼" diameter foot pierced in the shape of a Tudor rose. Clearly stamped on the underside ‘Tudric English Pewter Liberty & Co’ together with the design number 022. In original condition as found, with some minor dents and tarnish. Pewter can be polished to shine like silver if preferred.
