Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This is a very unusual table, it is made in Oak and has a 2” thick top, the table came from a French Chateau Kitchen, at first glance it is a food preparation or side table, with 3 drawers along one side. However concealed under the table top there are leaves on each side along the length of the table, so the table can be used as a food preparation table, or with one leaf out it will seat 4 and with the leaf on the opposite side it will seat 8, a great thing where space is limited,

The drawer fronts have an unusual scalloped shape, this is matched on the reverse side with similar shaped panels, the table is very heavy and is intended as work table, it has a pleasant rustic look and will stand up to no end of heavy work.
