A Handsome Cut Glass Victorian Decanter

Description

A handsome cut glass decanter from the Victorian period. This superb example is probably a spirit or liqueur decanter. The body has elaborate cutting and the base has a polished pontil mark. The cut stopper is the original and the glass is fine and good quality.

An excellent and usable alternative to that bottle of wine standing on the table.

Condition :- Excellent, with no cracks. There is a very minor chip to the edge of the stopper, hidden in the cutting, on the top surface of the stopper, commensurate with age and use. This is shown in the seventh photograph.

Origin :- Anglo/Irish.

Date :- c1870.

Height :- 21.25 cms.

Base diameter :- 8 cms.
