Elegant 19th Century Stick Barometer

Description

A good quality mid-19th century mahogany STICK BAROMETER by Smith & Beck of London.

The figured mahogany case is edged with ebony and features a pretty carved pediment to the top and a long thermometer to the trunk. Both register plates are engraved and silvered, and it is complete with its original bone cursor key.

*** James Smith one of three premier instrument makers, was joined by Richard Beck in 1847. Smith retired in 1865 so this barometer can be accurately dated 1847-1865
