Description

An Early 19th Century Engraving of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The town raised on the hill within the loop of the River Severn. The spires of St Marys, St Julians and what must have been the recently built St Chads, are clearly visible within the houses of Claremont and Town Walls. On the river several boatmen are in coracles. The view is from what is now New Street.

All within the original gilt frame and verre eglomise mount.

Date c 1800.

Height 14 1/2 inches, width 20 inches, depth 1 1/2 inches.
