S&h Jewell Victorian Oak and Leather Revolving Desk Chair

A very good quality Victorian oak revolving desk chair upholstered in leather by S&H Jewell of Little Queen Street, Holborn, London who were recorded as quality cabinet-makers from around 1830 to 1900.

The makers metal label to the underside of the chair reads “S.& H. JEWELL, 29, 30 & 31, LITTLE QUEEN ST, HOLBORN.W.C.”

As you would expect from a good London cabinet maker of the 19th Century the design of this Desk chair is excellent having a shaped scrolled buttoned back rest with upholstered arms held by eleven ring turned oak supports.

There is a generous sized stuff over seat to the desk chair which is upholstered in fine quality hand dyed leather with brass studwork which revolves 360 degrees.

Raised on swept tapering feet united by a central X frame stretcher and terminating on brass and porcelain castors. The castors have been replaced as with all 19th century desk chairs most of the castors will have a lot of wear and “play” in them so not to be practical.

Offered in excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional methods with a fine colour.
