Rue des Fontenelles has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
He studied at the 'Academie de Courtrai' but was a lawyer by profession. After 1833 he started to paint more seriously. He was influenced by JB de Jonge and E Verboeckhoven. Robbe had his first exhibition in Ghent in 1835 and had a particularly successful large exhibition in Brussels in 1854. Later, Robbe applied himself to the study of landscapes but ill health prevented him developing over the last twenty years of his life. He has works in several museums including, Brussels, Antwerp , Bruges, Tornai, Liile, Moscow, Washington, Liege.
