A huge and stunning oil by Jules Georges Moteley depicting figures in a valley in the summer with a distant town with church. The work is of immense quality with beautiful bright colours and has its original artists label verso and is stamped lower left with the artists cachet. A truly fabulous centre piece painting by this artist.

Jules Moteley was a pupil of Jules Lefebvre, Gabriel Guay and Antoine Guillement. He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1889 and 1923, where he was hors-concours and a member of the jury; he received an honourable mention in 1900 at the Exposition Universelle, the Prix Raiguecourt Goyon in 1901, and a second-class medal in 1902.
