Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The Settle is intricately carved, the back has a very jolly scene in the centre panel, it is set outside a hostelry and shows a a young lady seeing off a gentleman who seems to have had rather too much to drink he is sitting back to front on his horse. There is a Breton wheel of life on the top of the bench and on either side of the centre carving

Taking into consideration the age of this piece it is in very good condition, the plinth at the base has minor chipping at the back, a wonderful piece with excellent patina
The settle is 58” high at the back and 60” wide, it is 19” deep, and the seat is 22” high
