Huge Makuzu Kozan Japanese Hand Painted Porcelain Vase

A splendid Japanese Meiji period porcelain vase by Makuzu Kozan, one of the major potters of the Meiji era and appointed artist to the Japanese Imperial household, the vase is beautifully executed and hand painted white on blue depicting a shooting bamboo stem in the foreground with a shadowed forest of bamboo hiding subtly in the blue. This impressive vase is signed on the underside and is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration; it stands 13 ½ inches tall.
