Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 18th Century.

The pictures on the front are of a rather gruesome hunting scene, an elegant lady and her husband on the outer doors and the centre panel shows a hunter and his horse who has been attacked by wolves wreaking their vengeance on the hunting party

The cabinet is bordered with masks of the green man and classical pictures of cherubs holding urns and it stands on large finely carved claw feet. The handles and escutcheons are heavy quality ormolu with the faces of lions, the locks are present but we do not have the key.

The condition of the sideboard is good, there is some historic woodworm which has been treated to be sure it is dead and there are some marks on the top but nothing significant for a piece of this age

The cabinet is 43” high, 59” long and 25” deep
