Puckerings has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
Underneath the handle, we have nice provenance, with the original presentation plaque "Harley Heckford Esq. A.M.I.C.E. (Associate Member Institution of Civil Engineers); by his colleagues of Finsbury (London) Borough Council as a token of his esteem and regards on his leaving to take up his appointment as Borough Surveyor of Poplar; February 15 1902"

The Tantalus comes with a working key and once unlocked the centre of the barrel lock can be slid down to release the bar which is then moved toward the back allowing access to the cut crystal decanters.

Again, another wonderful feature is the circular decanters, with a diamond cut design and all without damage. When placing these decanters, take time to get them in the right position / order so that the bar doesn't hit any of the stoppers. The base has been professionally relined in black fabric and paper, the decanters fit well and will ease with use.

About as good as they get in every way. Excellent condition with an overall measurement of 16" x 7" x 14" tall to top of handle. Each decanter having a base diameter of 3 1/2" and standing 9 1/2" tall.
