Set of Hippocamp Wall Sconces

Description

A Set of Four Ormolu and Bronze Wall Sconces.

The scrolled brackets with classical decoration finished to the bottoms with hanging leaf finials. the brackets with rectangular stepped caps, upon which rise from waves Hippocamps. Their webbed front claws overhanging the caps, their wings lifting, their tails twisting and their head raised and slightly turned. The brackets mounted with pairs of reeded upward sweeping arms with leaf collars above the trumpet shaped drip pans, and campana shaped candle holders.

A true set, in two counter facing pairs.

Re-wired and ready for use.

Date c 1870.
