Alexander Rosell Oil On Canvas Entitled A Full Moon

A good 19th century oil on canvas by Alexander Rosell entitled ‘A full moon’ in original gilt gesso & hardwood frame the picture depicts a domestic scene with a mother sat beside the table nursing a boy by the fire while an elderly lady peers past the curtain out into the night, the mother appearing to shelter the boy’s eyes from the intruding moonlight. Rosell has skilfully-rendered the lighting effects in this piece, from light of the fire and the lantern on shelf, to the moonlight coming in through the window, it is signed in the bottom left corner and is in excellent overall condition commensurate with age.
