A Rare Edwardian Silver Wax Jack.

A rare piece of Edwardian silver desk ware. This is a charming hallmarked wax jack. The body is of baluster form, with a weighted base for stability and a pull of lid to access the wax coil. These highly desirable items were filled with a coil of sealing wax, with the end emerging from an aperture. The end would be lit and the wax held over the letter or document to form a small pool, into which a seal would be placed. They appear in a number of varied forms and designs, often with the coil of wax visible on the outside and remain a sought after item of antique silver.
