A Georgian Silver Madeira Label and Spirit Decanter.

18th century
Description

A regency spirit decanter with silver Madeira label from 1800. The decanter dates from c1810 and has a three ring neck, slice cut shoulders and a panel of flute cutting to the base. To the underside there is a polished pontil and the decanter retains the original mushroom stopper. The Madeira label has a shaped, reeded border and 'Madeira' pierced in the centre. Hallmarked to the rear and supported on a belcher chain, this would make a nice piece for the collector or a usable, practical item.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable - Town mark is missing but is London - confirmed by Maker's mark.

Decanter :- c1810.

Origin :- English.
