Antique English Silver Plate & Mother of Pearl Fruit Eaters - Sterling Ferrules - 1902

Description

A superb and complete boxed set of twelve fruit or desert knives and forks with stunning English hallmarked sterling silver ferrules. Each ferrule is hallmarked for Sheffield 1902 with the makers initials for Allen & Darwin.

Each knife and fork is in beautiful condition with wonderful iridescent Mother or Pearl handles, a good chunky handle too. The silver plated blades are marked one side for the silversmith, Allen and Darwin of Sheffield. The other side has an English design registration number for the year 1893.

This set comes with it's original solid Mahogany presentation box lined in navy blue velvet. The box has an inset plate marked with another English registration number for the year 1898. There is another inset plaque engraved with the retailer's details, John Hall and Co. 56, King St., Manchester.

The set remains in superb condition. The box comes with a working key and measures 12" x 9 1/2"; the knife measures 8" and the fork, 6 1/2" in length.
