A fine and well figured, honduras mahogany, collectors cabinet by watkins & doncaster, the strand, london. Dating from last decade of the 19th century. One of the classic victorian models from this famous company of natural historians. Circa 1890.

This cabinet has been well looked after and is ready to be used for a multitude of collecting pursuits. Originally having served as cabinet for the protection and display of a collection of british butterflies. The drawers are base lined with cork and are papered throughout. The glazed frames are closely fitting and the drawers run smoothly and effortlessly on their runners.

Original glass, lock, hinges and key all present and fully functional.

A good looking and highly versatile collectors cabinet.
