Made in mahogany with flush brass handles and corners.

In 1845 Richard Millard patented his Portable Recumbent Easy Chair. At that time he was at 12 Craven Street, Strand. Hill and Millard were established by 1854, when he joined forces with John Hill. The company of Hill, Millard Ltd is noted at 7 Duncannon Street, Trafalgar Square from 1890 to 1930

This chest would have been purchased from the Trafalgar Square store by an officer and would have been a prestige purchase.
