Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
To the reverse there is an applied shield cartouche with the engraved initials of the previous owner. To the base is a striker and the inside retains the original gilding. A charming piece.

Condition :- Very good, with no splits or cracks. The lid closes firmly and the spring is good. There are a few small dents to the body, commensurate with age and use.
Hallmarks :- Clear and readable - full marks to body and part mark to lid.
