Description

This antique French gilt wood stool is fabulous quality & has a great shape with many fine features. It has eight shaped legs which are joined up with shaped stretchers underneath. Please enlarge all the images to see all the fine details & carvings. It’s carved all along the top of the frame & down the cabriole legs. The shaped stretchers are also carved & have other decorative details. The gilding is all original & has just been revived & touched up in places, while still retaining the original look with loads of character. I have just had it re-upholstered in a cream fabric with double piping around the edge. This has to be one of the nicest stools I’ve had & it’s a great size. It would be perfect placed along the bottom of a double bed. This stool is from the 19th century & I would say it dates from around the 1840-60’s period.
