A good Japanese Meiji period boxwood box & cover in the form of a human skull without the bottom jaw, intertwined with an ivory snake which has run its long body through the some of the skulls natural orifices. The skull is topped with a hand painted seated frog acting as a finial for the cover which separates around the top part of the cranium, this charming box & cover is signed on the underside and stands 5 ½ inches tall.
Condition: The frog has a stable split running across his back otherwise it is in very good overall condition.
