Japanese Meiji Period One Piece IVory Elephant And Tigers Okimono

An excellent Japanese Meiji period okimono finely hand carved from a single piece of ivory it depicts an elephant fending off two tigers with his mouth open and trunk raised, one of the tigers has leapt on the elephants back and is clinging to his tough skin while the other has been pinned down by the elephant’s powerful front leg. This incredibly well detailed okimono stands freely on its original hardwood base and is in excellent condition throughout, measuring 5 ½ inches in length.
