A charming French bronze on oval marble base c.1860 depicting a cherub beside a broken drum, the cherub holding one drumstick in his right hand, the other stick lies on the floor as the boy wipes a tear from his eye. This splendid bronze sits in a red marble base and may have been designed to act as a match holder or spill vase, some small age-related chips around the marble otherwise the condition is very good and the bronze stands 5 inches.
