An Antique 1908 Elgin Pocket Watch and Chain

An antique 1908 Elgin pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 335, which is working nicely. The movement is signed and the serial number 13,470,185 dates it back to 1908. The movement is beautifully damascened.

The watch itself measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and the back has an image of a locomotive. Both the front and back are screw fitting. The inside of the case back is signed Illinois Watch Case Company, Elgin. The case is in good condition, just some rubbing to the locomotive image but not too detrimental.

The watch glass is in good order.

The signed enamel dial has a few faint hairline cracks but you need to look quite closely to see them. Blued steel hands in a Breguet style, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. The hands are initially lever set which means the front cover is unscrewed and a small lever is pulled out while the hands are set with the winding crown... it is a simple process.

The watch comes with a single chain, 40cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
