Hood glass side apertures. Brass capped hood columns and an arched trunk door. A raised plinth panel. An arched brass and silvered dial with name cartouche to the arch. Dial corner spandrels, date and seconds dials. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A brass flat rod pendulum of London design often seen on Portsmouth clocks of this period.

Richard Smith of Portsmouth is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working before 1748. We had a very similair clock by this maker some years ago.
