Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 17th Century.

The two large carved panels doors enclose a deep cupboard, inside we still have the original wooden pegs all around the back and sides, there is also the addition of a brass hanging rail, this could be removed if necessary

The doors are carved in a 4 interlocking ring Celtic pattern which matches the carving on the 4 lower panels, there is more carving around the cornice and the lower part of the cupboard. One of the cupboard doors locks with a wooden internal latch, the other has a working lock and key but these are a 19th century addition

All in all this is piece is in good condition considering its great age there are old repairs as you would expect, it has been attacked by wood worm in the distant past, this has been treated and is quite dead now

The cupboard stands 76” high it is 61” wide and 26”deep
