Large Japanese Meiji Period Bronze On Hardwood Base Of Boy Crabbing

A fabulous quality Japanese Meiji period bronze okimono depicting a young smiling boy on a rocky crag with basket and cover in one hand, poised low on one knee holding out a bamboo pole with the other attempting to creep up on a small crab which has spotted the boy and tucked itself into a small crevice with its claws raised in the defensive position. This charming bronze is complete with its original hardwood stand which follows the contours of the bronze perfectly and has a lovely patina where the bronze has sat all this time, the base of the bronze is stamped with the artists signature seal and the okimono is in excellent condition measuring 21 inches in length.
