A splendid Japanese Edo period 6-fold hinged screen hand painted on a gold ground within a silk bordered black lacquer & gilt metal frame, the scene depicts Bijin’s and attendants before the Emperor and probably celebrating the Sakura (cherry blossom festival) with a flower dance.
Condition: Very minor age-related signs of wear, a small (10cm) tear to panel one and probable later repairs and paint touch ups. Taking into consideration its age the condition is very good.
