Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The sweeping and scrolled arm are also reeded and carved with acanthus leaves. The chair dates from the Victorian period, it has been beautifully reupholstered in our workshop in a linen weave fabric in a versatile natural shade. The condition is very good, there is some minor historic wood worm damage to one arm (treated for peace of mind!) this is not detrimental and adds to the character of an antique chair. The chair stands well with no wobbles, it is also very comfortable. A high quality antique armchair that would add style to any interior.
