19th Century Stool with Original Painted Decoration

Description

A very decorative and unusual square stool in the original paint, probably Italian in origin. The elegant tapering legs of this antique stool are painted with flowers and foliage within a gilt cartouche on all sides of the legs. This decoration is repeated on the frieze. The stool has been recovered with a textured linen fabric in a soft green shade which perfectly compliments the original paintwork. The condition is good. There is a little wear to small areas of the painted surface, but this only adds to the character and originality of this piece. The stool is structurally sound and stands well with no wobbles. This distinctive and highly decorative stool is ready to place in any interior.
