Artist; Reverend Arthur Benjamin Bateman. (1883-1970). Title: "Near Masham, North Yorkshire". Masham church spire in the distance. Signed and dated 1948. Inscribed on the reverse. Oil on canvas. Size: 14"x 18". Framed size: 20"x 24". In very good ready to hang condition. Free UK delivery. A lovely atmospheric landscape. Rev. Arthur Bateman (1883-1970) Arthur Bateman was born in Nottingham and studied there at the Nottingham School of Art and in Paris. He became a Methodist minister and lived in many places, including Barnard Castle. After retiring he became chaplain to the RAF regiment at Catterick and moved to Crakehall where he spent the last 20 years of his life. He exhibited at The Royal Academy, London, The Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Institute, The Paris Salon, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Goupil Gallery, and many local galleries.
