Gents 1950s Waltham 53 Jewel Automatic Wristwatch

1940 - 1960
Description

A gents Waltham 53 automatic wristwatch.

The watch has a generous 53 jewelled automatic movement, calibre R-300 (based on an A Schild calibre), which is working nicely. The movement is signed twice with the Waltham name.

The watch itself measures 34.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 10k gold filled with a stainless steel case back. The case back states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water. The case has an unusual design with cut out sections to the lugs, it has a most attractive appearance. Overall the case is in good condition with minor marking, and a few scratches to the back.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in beautiful condition with original hands, centre seconds hand and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
