Antique Regency Country House Rosewood and Velvet Armchair

19th century
Description

Lovely example of an English country house Rosewood framed armchair dating from the early 19th Century. It is an elegant shape with curved arms on turned front supoorts terminating in brass castors. The chair is covered in a velvet material, believed to be original, which has worn over time to produce a wonderfully faded dusty colour.

The chair is in good overall condition. It runs well on its castors and is a good sturdy chair. There are some general age related marks and small knocks around the legs but nothing detrimental. The upholstery has been thoroughly cleaned and although worn it is not damaged and doesn't have any major marks. The most noticeable wear is at the end of the arms where it has been gripped over many years and there is a small section of braid here that is missing. The chair displays beautifully with a charming english country grandeur look.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask. We have a network of national couriers and operate fortnightly deliveries to London. Please get in touch for an accurate quote.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
