Description

The natural colours on the face of this stunning salt-bag ('namakdan' in Persian) are simply beautiful. The wool, too, is soft and lustrous. Note the upside-down birds depicted in the neck of the bag - done on purpose so that when the neck is folded over to prevent the rock-salt from spilling out, the birds would be seen the correct way up! The back is woven in natural undyed goat-hair and I love the sporadic symbols inserted by the weaver for a reason only known to her.
