Early French Striking Carriage Clock

Description

A handsome, fine quality and early French CARRIAGE CLOCK in perfect working order.

The case is very fine, with beautiful all-over engraving; shaped hinged handle and its original mercury gilding. The 8-day movement retains its original gilt lever platform escapement and strikes hours and half-hours on a bell. The dial is also superbly hand-engraved and gilded, whilst the blued steel "breguet" moon hands are original. 5.5ins high; 4ins wide; 3ins deep. (14 x 10 x 7.5cms)
