Old Sheffield Plate is the name given to a layered combination of copper and silver invented by Thomas Boulsover in 1743. Many 18th and early 19th century hallmarked silver items were also made in 'OSP', which looked identical and could be produced at far less cost. Avidly collected today. Priced for the pair.
