Pair Old Sheffield Plate Entree Dishes

Description

A good PAIR of early 19th century Old Sheffield Plate ENTREE DISHES.

Of serpentine shape and complete with covers and removable handles, these good centre dishes feature the tell-tale "fold-over" edges typical of genuine Old Sheffield Plate. Excellent condition. 12.5ins x 10ins x 4ins high. (32 x 25 x 10cms).

***Old Sheffield Plate is the name given to a layered combination of copper and silver invented by Thomas Boulsover in 1743. Many 18th and early 19th century hallmarked silver items were also made in 'OSP', which looked identical and could be produced at far less cost. Avidly collected today. Priced for the pair.
