Description

Fabulous late 19th.c. French secretaire chest of drawers c.1880. Useful narrow proportions, just 32½” wide. Single drawer in the top over three dummy drawer fronts which open to form a leather top writing desk. Four small stationery drawers inside plus three working drawers below. A very good looking piece of furniture with symmetrically arranged walnut veneers to the top, sides and drawer fronts with inlaid satinwood border and boxwood stringing. Flanked with a pair of fine turned and fluted columns and raised on turned front feet. Beautiful satin birch lined interior with contrasting ebonised trim and drawer knobs. The four small drawers have mahogany linings. The larger drawers are oak. Excellent condition with original locks and hinges. Cleaned and polished in our workshops. Keys supplied.
