Fabulous 19th Century Gillows Leather Chesterfield

An extremely well drawn 19th century figured walnut deep buttoned leather upholstered chesterfield in the manner of Gillows.

Having beautifully pronounced shaped scrolling arms and shaped breakfront edge this fine chesterfield has been upholstered in a very good quality deep buttoned hand dyed leather hyde. Dating to circa 1860-1880.

The elegant design has a sprung deep buttoned seat, back and arms making this a very comfortable chesterfield.

The front turned legs being made of solid figured walnut retaining their original refurbished gilt brass castors with the same to the rear.

Although not stamped we feel this chesterfield can be attributed to Gillows of Lancaster as the quality and design is first class having a good heavy frame, we also have images available of an almost identical turned walnut chesterfield leg of the same quality stamped Gillows for reference.

Please bear in mind you may find the usual markings with antique furniture that are commensurate with age which all add to beauty and uniqueness of the item.

VIEWINGS

We have a reputation for being long established antique dealers in London having had showrooms concurrently running in Islington, Chelsea and Ascot. We have relocated our new showroom, due to London overheads, easily reached between A1 or A10 to just outside of Hertford, Hertfordshire.
