Fine 19th Century Mahogany Carlton House Desk

A fine quality Late 19th Century mahogany Carlton House desk having a extremely good choice of mahogany used, often referred to as fiddleback mahogany.

The brass gallery shaped back having an arrangement of drawers in the centre with a pair of shaped flanking doors with decorative boxwood inlay above a leather writing surface and three inlaid hand cut dovetailed mahogany lined frieze drawers with brass fretted escutcheon handles.

Raised on square tapering inlaid legs terminating on spade feet and castors. In excellent condition this wonderful antique desk dating to circa 1890 has been gently restored using traditional methods and has obtained a beautiful mellow colour.

Of good proportions this Carlton House desk based on an original made for the Prince Regent will work extremely well with any home or period setting.

VIEWINGS
