Brass Bound Walnut Campaign Writing Slope

Description

Early to Mid 19th Century walnut writing slope with a parquetry inlaid dedication panel inset to the top to "Andrew Grant from his fellow servants at Dundee East 29th Sept 1877" This is thought to refer to The Dundee East Poorhouse which opened in 1856 and assumes that Andrew Grant was an administrator there.

The writing slope is in very good condition, with a secret panel that hides three drawers, two glass ink pots and a working lock and key.
