Description

A truly wonderful domed food cover, these look quite impressive displayed in a kitchen or dining room, they are large and have real presence.

This special example is made by the most famous of English silver plate manufacturers, Elkington and Co. Being Elkington, it has a date letter, allowing us to date it accurately to the year 1841.

The dome is scalloped and each panel is shaped with the outline used to create a hand chased frame. The front has a very regal family crest of a ducal crown with five Ostrich feathers, I believe the crest of an Earl.

The naturalistic handle has a base created in the form of bunches of grapes and vine leaves.

Superb in every way and in excellent condition. 14 3/4" x 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" tall to top of handle.
