Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.

The 8-day movement retains its original anchor escapement, striking hours on a bell and repeating hours via the pull-cord, with pretty engraving around the backplate and the original pendulum bob. The enamel dial is in superb condition, as are the elegant blued steel hands. 15ins (38cms) high.

JAMES LINDLEY (born 1777) son of clockmaker Thomas Lindley of Leicester,worked in London where he married the daughter of fellow-clockmaker William Carpenter in 1803. They formed a working partnership together from 1805 until 1812. He died in 1846.
