1920s Silver Kays Keyless “Triumph” Pocket Watch

A 1920s silver Kays Keyless “Triumph” pocket watch.

William Kay set up Kays of Worcester in 1890. Customers bought items from handbills in a folder and initially the goods on offer were limited to jewellery, watches, clocks and household items. Eventually William’s son Jack took over the running of the business, just a year after this particular watch was made. The company continued to expand and trade successfully, becoming one of Worcester’s largest employers.

This particular watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. It is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for Birmingham 1925 with a case maker’s mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company. The case and the watch glass are in good condition, and there is a vacant cartouche to the back.

The signed dial is in lovely condition, and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
