Small Cottage Longcase Grandfather Clock Skarratt Worcester

Description

A small 'cottage' oak longcase clock with mahogany crossbanding. A flat top pediment with fluted detailing underneath. Brass capped fluted hood side columns. Mahogany crossbanding to the trunk with a diamond shaped inlay. An attractive square painted dial with original gold leaf work to the corners. A seconds dial and date aperture. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

The Skarratt family of clockmakers worked in Worcester, Kington and Hay in the 19th century. John Skarratt is listed in Loomes' 'Watccmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1828-1860.
