A fine Sterling silver circular box by Neresheimer & Co of Hanau bearing their marks as well as the marks of Berthold Muller the import agent, a 925 stamp and Chester date letter for 1909, this splendid box is circular with embossed floral decoration around the body and a rear hinged lid with thumb tack at the front. The top of the cover is beautifully embossed with a tavern scene depicting a cavalier playing cards, being distracted by the barmaid whilst his opponent sneaks a look at his hand; another character at the table peers into his apparently empty tankard with more characters in the background.
This charming box has a gilt interior and is in excellent overall condition with the embossed decoration still extremely crisp; it measures 3 inches in diameter.
